Bonaccord works with academic institutions to optimise the environment for successful commercialisation and provides business development and legal services to the new ventures whether on behalf of the institution or the individual academic or entrepreneur.

Among the services offered are:

• Surveys to ascertain the existing environment for commercialisation within an institution, identifying processes and procedures that may be barriers to this and the attitudes and desires of staff
• Intellectual property audits to identify opportunities
• Workshops with academics and administrators to develop mutually acceptable strategies
• Academic and practical workshops and courses for undergraduates, postgraduates and staff in subjects such as entrepreneurship, intellectual property law, management and negotiation skills, commercialisation options and commercial presentations (see also Training)
• Identification of other individuals and organisations that can assist with particular projects
• Assistance in approaching potential investors
• Legal support to take the project further on behalf of an institution or individual academic including organisation and licensing of intellectual property or the establishment of spin outs
